Tassilo Lopes Coelho is a Portuguese-German filmmaker, producer and photojournalist whose work is shaped by anthropological and sociological inquiry.

In 2020, he directed the feature documentary “La Soledad de Gaudí” in Barcelona, which explores the lockdowns' socio-cultural impact in various communities, while drawing poetic parallels to the architect’s life. The film was co-financed by the Goethe Foundation and published on the streaming platform FILMIN.

In 2023 he collaborated with the NGO Doctors Without Borders (MSF) in Mexico to make the film “Espérame” (2023), which portrays the human element throughout migration crisis across the country. The documentary was officially selected at the International Documentary Film Festival of Mexico City (DocsMX) and exhibited in various cinemas across Switzerland and Mexico.

In 2025 he directed the short.film “DAGU” in the province Guangdong in China, a collaboration with Beijing Normal University. The film explores cultural preservation through the story of an elderly Yao woman teaching her granddaughter embroidery, a tradition passed down through generations to record and share stories in place of a written language.
